Sasha is desperate to find out who murdered her father. When getting the answer means pledging her soul to Eryx, she unlocks a secret that puts her in grave danger—Sasha is Anabo, a daughter of Eve, and Eryx’s biggest threat.

A son of Hell, immortal, and bound to Earth forever, Jax looks for redemption in the Mephisto Covenant—God’s promise he will find peace in the love of an Anabo. After a thousand years, he’s finally found the girl he’s been searching for:  Sasha.

With the threat of Eryx looming, Jax has to keep Sasha safe and win her over. But can he? Will Sasha love him and give up her mortal life?
In one night, Sasha’s life changed forever. Desperate to find out who killed her father, she agrees to meet with someone who claims to know who killed him. When she gets there, Sasha is beaten by the members of this man’s “cult”, which includes her friend that brought her. They are planning to kill her, and Sasha has no idea why. Enter Jax, who is Mephisto and a son of hell. Jax saves Sasha’s life, and since she is an “Anabo”, she can redeem his life as well.

Alright, so I know that explanation sucks, but The Mephisto Covenant is one of those books that you have to read for yourself to enjoy. Trinity Faegen did such an excellent job explaining a very confusing story. There was a lot of background information that really brings the entire story together. It also is a very interesting and original story and even though it’s long (439 pages), I was never bored. I thought the writing flowed nicely and I was not left with any unanswered questions.

I loved the characters! The main character, Sasha, completely broke my heart. First her father is murdered, then her mother is deported back to Russia and she is forced to live with her abusive aunt and her husband (who happened to be her father’s best friend). People want to kill her and she has no idea what to do. Especially because the people who want to kill her are living in the same house as her! Even throughout all of the pain, I loved the way Sasha still carried herself and was willing to do what she had to do to protect her self and those she loved.

Jax also was a very sad character. He’s been “alive” for over 1,000 years and no matter what work he does to save humanity, he will never be allowed into heaven. The only way he could is if he is redeemed by the love of an Anabo. Anabo’s are very, very rare and Sasha wants nothing to do with him because of who he is. Now, not only does he have to protect her from the people who want to kill her, but he also has to win her heart. The boy had absolutely no game and it was cute to watch him try to win her over.

Overall, I really loved The Mephisto Covenant and I think it was of those novels that would make a perfect stand-alone. I think it is going to be a series though, so I am interested to see what the author has in store for us next!
