Cover Reveal: Blindsided by Eden Finley

Release Date: March 20, 2019
Cover Design: Kellie Dennis / Book Cover by Design

Synopsis

𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫:
When Talon left to play pro ball six years ago, the hole in my chest confused me. I focused my heartache into making my own NFL dreams come true, and by the time I was drafted, the longing I had for my best friend was buried deep. Now he wants everything to be like it was in college, but we can’t have threesomes and be reckless like we once were. The media storm would be enough to break both our careers. That’s not my biggest concern though. The torch I had for him burns brighter after so long apart, and there’s nothing I can do about it. Marcus Talon is straight. I need to stay away from him.

𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧:
Years ago, Miller and I made a pact that we’d win a Super Bowl together. When I’m offered a position on his team in Chicago, I don’t hesitate. I move across the country to chase a dream that’s a decade old. Only, now that I’m here, he’s avoiding me every chance he gets. If he was anyone else, I’d cut my losses. But this is Shane Miller—the guy who makes everything better just by existing in my universe. The guy I’d do anything for. The guy who’s more to me than a brother, a friend, or even a teammate. I’m not going to let him get away.

Excerpt

“God, I wish I was there,” Miller says. His solemn face fills my phone screen, and I wish he was here too.
“Here?” I croak. “Why?”
Scenarios run through my head of what Miller could do if he were here right now, and not one of them is PG-rated.
“Why do you think? I’m going batshit and my leg is messed up. I wanna be back on the field.”
Ah, he’s still talking about football. Duh.
“I’ll get you there,” I promise.
“You’re really going to spend your off season training me? Shouldn’t you be taking a jersey chaser or two to a sex island?”
I perk up. “There are sex islands? Think we could recondition there?”
“On second thought, I don’t think you should be let loose on a sex island. You’d probably forget to do important things like eat and drink water, and then you’d die of dehydration.”
“Like those animals who literally fuck themselves to death?”
“What?” I ask.
“There are these rat-looking things from Australia. The males literally stop eating so they can have sex until they die. Something about their need to keep their gene pool going.”
“I shouldn’t be shocked about your weird knowledge of animal sex, but I am.”
“Just trying to find my spirit animal.” I sigh. “Although lately I’m more like a panda. If I go much longer without sex, I’ll forget how to do it.”
Why my brain thinks that’s a good idea to tell Miller, I have no idea. Maybe I’m fishing for him to agree with me or maybe I want him to know that I’m not fucking around with anyone else. Not that I’m fucking around with him either.
“Aww, how long has it been? A few days? A week?” He smiles but there’s something in it that makes me think he’s gritting his teeth while he does.
“Try months. That night … with you and those two girls. That’s the last time I …” I wave my hand in a you know what I’m trying to say gesture.
“Holy shit, how are you surviving? And what about your pregame ritual?”
“The new calluses on my hands aren’t from throwing footballs.”
Miller cracks up laughing, and something inside me breaks. What it is, I don’t know, but it’s like charging the field at the beginning of a game. It’s a touchdown in the last minute. It’s putting that championship ring on for the first time. It’s … everything.
“Shane,” I say, my voice coarse.
His eyes flick to mine through the small screen, and his laughter dies.
My confession is a whisper. “I chickened out.”
Miller’s brow furrows. “Chickened out of what?”
“This. FaceTiming you.”
Miller looks like he’s trying to decide to mock me or let me off the hook. I beat him to talking so he can do neither.
“I’ve wanted to. You have no idea how much.”
His expression softens. “I think I have a fair idea. I wasn’t calling you on your bluff or taunting you.” He lowers his voice and whispers, “I wanted it. I want this.”
Miller’s gaze burns so hot I expect my phone to overheat. How I’ve never seen him this way before now is confusing, but not really when I dissect it.
I uprooted my whole life for him. Moved to Chicago to be near him. All because I missed what I had with him, which up until recently, I thought was just a solid friendship.
Friends don’t give up what I did just so they can see their college buddy again. That’s illogical. That doesn’t stop me from trying to make sense of it. And to make sense of it, I need to do something I’ve been putting off. For fear of rejection, fear of discovering some unknown truth that’s always been a part of me, I don’t know. But I do know Miller doesn’t scare me. Doing this with Miller doesn’t scare me.
“Take your shirt off,” I rasp.
“Talon—”
“Take. Your. Shirt. Off.”

Review: She Found Him by B. Cranford

Release Date: February 19, 2019
Cover Design: Oh So Novel
Genre: Emotional Contemporary Romance Standalone

Synopsis

One thing Rose Riley is proud of: standing up for what she believes in while living her best life kindly. One thing she’s not so proud of: whacking a man on the head with her handmade sign at an animal rights march. Especially when she takes the whimpering puppy dumped on her front porch to the nearest vet and he turns out to be the man she struck . . . Awkward. One thing Rose didn’t expect to find before going back home to Australia: Love.

My Review:

Sometimes you get to be lucky enough to read a book that gives you all the feels. She Found Him was that book for me. It had everything I wanted it a story. It was adorably cute, but dealt with some real topics that I completely connected with. I loved everything about this story, and I can’t want to read more from this author.

She Found Him is about a Veterinarian named Liam and an Australian currently living in America named Rose. When they first meet at an “Adopt Don’t Shop” event, she accidently hits him with her sign-twice and then runs away! They meet again a week later when she comes to his office after finding a stray puppy on her porch. This is when the magic begins! Liam, Rose and the puppy Wilbur were all so perfectly written. I loved them all! Little Wilbur (nicknamed Wilby!) was just the cutest and it made me realize even more that I need to have a dog in my life right away.

I connected with Rose on such a personal level as well. She is dealing with homesickness and hasn’t seen her parents in two years since she left Australia. This was very real to me because my parents live in New York and I moved down to Texas. I understood how she felt about needing and missing them and wanting to go home.

Overall, this story was just absolutely perfect. I loved everything about it. I am so glad I was given an advanced copy to read! She Found Him is a quick read that is 100% worth it! Highly recommend!

Abby

I only have one love now—the home furnishings business I’m building into an empire. Maybe money and success can’t love me back, but they keep what’s left of my heart safe. One-night stands are my way of scratching the occasional itch I get for something more. And no one’s better for that than a sexy as sin hockey player I’ll never see again after one very hot night together.

Luca

I used to love two things: hockey and women. But now my nieces and nephew are my top priority, because I’m raising them after tragedy stole their parents. Somehow I balance single parenthood and my career as a forward for the Chicago Blaze. There’s no time for women, until I get knocked on my ass by Abby Daniels. Book Blurb:

Once upon a time, a boy and a girl fell in love…but prestige, power, and a shameful secret drove them apart.

Julia fled abroad after the death of her husband, Lord Fallthorpe. She has finally returned to England, but little has changed.

Except for her.

As a dowager marchioness, Julia lives and loves where she pleases. And the obnoxious son of her dead husband does not please. But what can an independent woman do? Why, create a scandal, of course!

Viscount Wolfington is no stranger to the wagging tongues of the ton. Between being a Lustful Lord and the scandal of his birth, he learned long ago that society had little use for him. So when he walks into The Market and finds the woman who once stole his heart being auctioned for a night of debauchery, he jumps at another chance to hold her--even for just a single night.

As Julia and Wolf unravel their pasts, will villainy win again, or will love finally conquer all?

My Review:

From just reading the synopsis, I knew that I wanted to read this story! When it appeared on my kindle (in the form of an eARC), I read it right away. Realizing after I had already started it that it was book three of the Lustful Lords series, I became a little hesitate, but it didn’t take anything away from the story. I definitely think that you can read His Scandalous Viscountess as a standalone.

The story literally starts at a sex auction and within a few pages there is one of the hottest three ways I have ever read. I seriously loved Wolf, Julia and Linc together. I wanted more! The story has more sexy times throughout and I was not disappointed.

I think my favorite part of the story was Wolf, also known as Grayson Powell Viscount Wolfington. He wasn’t your typical Lord that we usually read about in historical romances. He didn’t come off as an asshole, which I really appreciated. He was kind and caring and I loved how he wanted to take care of Julia.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. I would like to read the first two books in the series as soon as possible. I think they are perfect rainy day reads when you’re looking for a little spice.

Cover Reveal: Make Me Bad by R.S. Grey

R.S. Grey's next romantic comedy, MAKE ME BAD, releases March 7th! Check out the cover and find out more about MAKE ME BAD below!

About MAKE ME BAD (available March 7th)

I was issued a warning: stay away from Ben Rosenberg.

As Clifton Cove’s resident “king”, he thinks he’s entitled to anyone and anything.
The trouble is, I’ve spent my whole life following the rules and playing it safe. I know what it feels like to be the good girl. I’m the police chief’s daughter and a librarian—for adorable children, no less. My wardrobe consists of colorful sundresses and baggy jeans. I might as well have a Post-it stuck to my forehead that reads: Yup, she’s a virgin.

An all-nighter with a fictional hunk is about as exciting as my life gets, until one day, fate decides to take pity on me and shove me straight into the path of Mr. Off-Limits himself.

Oof.

Just as I suspected, every inch of him promises to be my demise. Up close, he’s tall, menacing, dangerously handsome—the type of man who’s never spent a single moment worrying about the opinions of others. A well-behaved girl would do as she’s told and avoid him at all costs, but I’m overdue for a little rebellion.

No more Friday nights sprawled out on the couch in my comfiest pajamas. No more wishing I had the courage to misbehave.

Everyone thinks Ben is going to ruin me.

They think he’ll chew me up and spit me out.

Well, Ben…go ahead.

Tempt me. Taunt me.

Make me bad.

Even though Allie desperately needs her job, she soon decides being with Jordan is more important. Add INTERLUDE to your Goodreads TBR!

My Review:

I went into this book solely based on the synopsis, not realizing that it’s technically book #6 of the Illusion series. After doing some research, I learned that this can be read as a standalone. I definitely agree with that, but I do think it will add more to the story if you knew the backgrounds of the other characters.

This story is about the character of Jordan. I don’t know how much we know about him in past books, but right off the back we learn that his entire immediate family was murdered by his father and he is the sole survivor. Thank god for his aunt, uncle, and cousins who through the years have become his parents and siblings. Sadly, Jordan still suffers from nightmares and issues from the ordeal. Due to this, he doesn’t open up to many people and stays away from relationships. I also loved the fact that he was bisexual. I feel like we don’t see men being comfortable enough with their bisexuality in stories, and it was refreshing to see this in Jordan.

I really enjoyed Allie’s character. I loved watching her being open with Jordan, and allowing Jordan the safe space to open up to her. I enjoyed seeing their connection grow into something more, and I loved the last few chapters!

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It definitely broke my heart at parts, but I loved the connections. Not just between Allie and Jordan, but between Jordan and his family. I definitely want to check out the other books in the series.

Chicago Blaze, #1

Book Blurb:

He’s known as Father Anton to his teammates—the brooding, sexy captain of the NHL’s Chicago Blaze has a reputation for…not having a reputation. Just like his diet and sleep routines, celibacy is part of Anton Petrov’s on-ice mojo. Or so they say. Anton stays mum on the subject. If the world thinks he chooses to abstain from sex, so be it. Better that than the truth getting out: there is a woman he burns for, but he can never have her. She’s his teammate’s wife, after all. Mia Marceau is finally on her own. Now that she and her husband are living apart, she’s finding the peace she was desperate for. She spends her days in classes and late nights bartending, making her own way in the world at last. After what she’s been through, as long as her husband leaves her alone, she doesn’t plan to rock the boat. He still has the power to hurt those dearest to her, and she can’t demand a divorce with such a high cost. A chance encounter with Mia has Anton hoping for a shot he never thought he’d get. And while she’s drawn to the intense, serious hockey center, Mia’s leery about playing with fire. That’s all Anton has ever known for Mia, though—a living, burning desire that won’t be denied—no matter the cost.

Add the book to Goodreads

My Review:

OMG! Anton was so good! I had never even heard of this author, but the moment I saw that sexy cover, I knew I had to read it. I was not disappointed! This book had everything I could want in a story.

Anton was the epiphany of the perfect guy. He loves his parents (who he provides for in Russia), his adopted family in America, his twin brother, and his friends. He was so sweet and I loved seeing him interact with his brother and his nieces and nephews. He’s the captain of the Chicago Blaze Hockey team and takes his training seriously. My favorite part of his was when he was taking care of his Uncle Dix. I couldn’t help but laugh when the two of them were together. He also has one vice. He’s been in love with his teammates wife for two years.

I loved Mia. She was very strong and doing what she has to do to take care of her grandfather and get divorced from her emotionally abusive husband. I really liked her and Anton together. I love that he never pushed her and was there for her in the sweetest way possible.

I couldn’t get enough of this story. My only complaint was that I had hit the end of the story! I loved them so much and I loved this story even more!

-------------------------

My Review:

This was the first book that I have read by Carrie Aarons and I really enjoyed the story that she has written. Imogen and Theo were beautifully in love. Despite her parents and their completely different backgrounds, the two of them were happy. When we meet them though, they are about to get a divorce. Imogen is the one that wants it and Theo is devastated. Due to her horrible parents, Imogen and Theo are forced to pretend they are married for a few months before they can finalize the divorce.

Imogen was horrible. I really did not like her character for most of the story. She was selfish and let people walk all over her. Theo was someone special. He was so selfless and allowed himself to be hurt to help Imogen. Even though I wasn’t a fan of Imogen until about half way through, I loved her and Theo together. They made me believe in true love.

Even though the story was predictable, I really enjoyed it. It was a perfect story to curl up with on a cold evening. I am looking forward to reading more books from Ms. Aarons!
