Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion . . . she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit -- more sparkly, more fun, more wild -- the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.
When Cricket -- a gifted inventor -- steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.
I think I'm one of the few people that actually liked Anna and the French Kiss more then Lola and the Boy Next Door. Some of my favorite scenes in Lola were the ones where St. Clair and Anna were in! That isn't to say that I didn't LOVE Lola, because I did! It had everything I could want in a YA contemporary!

I loved Lola! I loved her awesome and original style and I loved her confidence! She is someone that every teenage girl should strive to be becasue she doesn't care about what other people think. She works at a movie theatre, has a bad boy rocker boyfriend, has great friends (which included Anna and St. Clair) and has two awesome dads! I loved her dads. They were the perfect blend of father protectiveness and awesomeness. Lola is the kind of girl you would want to be BFFs with! She was just so believable and real.

The boy next door is Cricket Bell and he is great! He's kind, unique and adorable.  He is also extremely intelligent. There really isn't anything bad to say about him. He's perfect!  Him and Lola are so cute together. They are awkward, and silly, and sweet. Their friendship was real, and so were their feelings. I loved them!

I also was really happy with how many scenes Anna and St. Clair were in. I thought we were only going to see them in passing or very briefly, but they actually played a big part in the story. Now, I want to go back and read Anna again!

Stephanie Perkins in my opinion is becoming the Queen of YA contemporary! She can do no wrong and I am looking forward to what she has in store for us next!

  2. I totally agree with you about Stephanie becoming the Queen of YA Contemporary! She's amazing! I loved both Anna and Lola! :) I love Lola become she was the opposite of me! I would have never been able to stand out like that. I wish I had that bone in my body! ;)

    Love your review! :)

  3. Lola and the Boy Next Door is the companion novel to Anna and the French Kiss, which I absolutely loved. (You can read my review here.) For those of you who haven't read Anna, you can still enjoy Lola, but there are a few scenes you will appreciate even more if you have read the first one, because Anna does make an appearance here.
