Wild Hearts is the second book in the Forever Wild Serial. (This is a six part series with one book releasing every 3 weeks)

Going back to Chicago with her accidental husband should have been torture for Valerie. But when Wes has her bent over the first class bathroom sink, torture is the last thing on her mind.

After landing back in Chicago reality sets in. So does the glaring eye of her roommate, and her former friends with benefits, Max, who seems to be a lot friendlier since Wes came in the picture.

After a meeting with a divorce lawyer, Valerie and Wes find out that they have thirty days for both of them to sign the papers, ending their quickie marriage.

But Valerie doesn’t know if she wants to move on or forever stay Mrs. Wild.
Wild Hearts is the next installment in the Forever Wild serial and picks up right where One Wild Night left off. I wasn't a fan of the first story, but since it is very hard to judge a book based on the first 40 pages alone, I decided to give the next 50 pages a chance. While I did enjoy this section a little bit more, I still feel the same way about the two characters Valerie and Wes. I just think they are both idiots. But I have to say, I am starting to warm up to the two of them being together. I just wish I knew more about Wes and what he is thinking. With that being said, I am very excited for the next episode, The Wild One which is told entirely in Wes' POV. Finally (well, hopefully) some answers!

Commitment. That’s what I really want from Colin. Ever since my brother, Danny, died in Iraq, Colin’s done so much to help me, including giving me a job at his popular restaurant so I can leave my crappy waitressing job at the strip joint. But lying in bed with him every night to comfort him from his horrible nightmares isn’t enough anymore. I know he feels guilty about Danny’s death, about not going to Iraq, but I can’t keep living this double life.

I love him desperately, but he’s got so many demons, and if he can’t open up to me now, then he’ll never be the real partner I need him to be. I gave him a month, and now I’m out of here. If he truly loves me like he says, he knows where to find me.
I received this galley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group.

I really enjoyed Monica Murphy's One Week Girlfriend and Second Chance Boyfriend so I was really excited to receive a review copy of Three Broken Promises, staring Fable's best friend, Jen and her boss Colin. Both characters are broken ever since Jen's brother and Colin's best friend, Danny died in Iraq. I loved watching these two reveal there true feelings for each other, and moving past the pain and guilt from their past.

I started to find Colin annoying though. Even after Jen's feelings were revealed to him, he still refused to share his feelings. Enough already!! I wanted them to get together. They were so perfect for each other. I did enjoy Jen's character. She was able to relate and connect too. I thought she was acting a little dramatic when it came to her parents though.

While this wasn't my favorite book of the series, I am super excited for the next book, Four Years Later, which is Owen's story!

“You’re going to turn me away yet again, aren’t you?” she asks when I don’t say anything. The irritation in her voice rings clear as her entire body goes tense. “I can’t believe it. I offer myself up to you with no strings attached and you’re trying to figure out how to let me down easy. God, I am such a moron.”

Unable to hold myself back, I rush toward her, angry that she would insult herself.

Panicked that she really is going to walk away and I’m going to lose my chance.

Thinking too much sucks. I need to just let it happen. Take this opportunity that she’s presenting me.

And let her go when our time is up.

“You’re not a moron,” I murmur, reaching for her. I cup her face in my hands and position her so she has no choice but to meet my gaze. I skim my thumbs across her cheeks, feel her shudder at my touch. “You make an offer like that and a man needs to process it first.”

The unshed tears still glimmer in her eyes and one escapes, leaving a damp trail across her skin. Leaning in, I stop its descent with my lips, tasting the salt, hearing the catch in her breath. “We do this and it’s not going to be some half-assed thing, you know,” I whisper.

She closes her eyes, her tears tangled in her long, thick lashes. “What’s it going to be, then?”

“A discovery.” I nuzzle her nose with my own, breathing in her scent, her very essence.

God, I could devour her! It’s taking everything within me to keep calm and not unleash all over her. “An exploration.”

“That sounds like . . . research.” Her breath hitches in her throat when I drop a tender kiss on the tip of her nose.

Chuckling, I shake my head. “It’s the farthest thing from research.” I drift my lips across her cheek, blazing a hot path on her petal-soft skin. “You’re right when you said I don’t do commitment. The closest thing I’ve ever been to commitment is . . . what I share with you.”

She tentatively places her hands on my hips, her fingers curling into the waistband of my jeans. Having her hands on me sends little darts of fire throughout my insides, making me harden in an instant. She has no idea what sort of effect she has on me. How much restraint I’m using at this very moment not to throw her over my shoulder like an oversexed caveman and cart her off to my bedroom.

“But it can be no more than friendship with added . . . benefits.” I lift my head so I can look into her troubled gaze. She doesn’t like what I have to say and I don’t like it either, but I have to be honest. Stringing her along and making her believe this is something more is a mistake.

The two of us together would never work. I’m too damn selfish. I’d disappoint her. I’d hold her back when she needs her freedom. I’m not worthy of her. She’s everything sweet and good in my life, where there’s little sweet and good remaining.

I’ve kept her—and our relationship—as pure as possible even after all of these years.

With the realization that she’s leaving me, that we’ll never be together again, I need to take my opportunities where I can.

Jen bites her lip and drops her gaze. “I can handle that.”

Her body language is more than telling me she doesn’t really want to handle that, but I can’t worry about it now.

I want her too damn much.

Review: Being Sloan Jacobs by Lauren Morrill

Being Sloan Jacobs
By: Lauren Morrill
Pub. Date: January 7, 2014
Publisher: Delacorte
Pages: 352
Source: Netgalley

Meet Sloane Emily Jacobs: a seriously stressed-out figure-skater from Washington, D.C., who choked during junior nationals and isn’t sure she’s ready for a comeback. What she does know is that she’d give anything to escape the mass of misery that is her life.

Now meet Sloane Devon Jacobs, a spunky ice hockey player from Philly who’s been suspended from her team for too many aggressive hip checks. Her punishment? Hockey camp, now, when she’s playing the worst she’s ever played. If she messes up? Her life will be over.

When the two Sloanes meet by chance in Montreal and decide to trade places for the summer, each girl thinks she’s the lucky one: no strangers to judge or laugh at Sloane Emily, no scouts expecting Sloane Devon to be a hero. But it didn’t occur to Sloane E. that while avoiding sequins and axels she might meet a hockey hottie—and Sloane D. never expected to run into a familiar (and very good-looking) face from home. It’s not long before the Sloanes discover that convincing people you’re someone else might be more difficult than being yourself.
I received this galley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Random House Children's.

Think parent trap, except they aren't twins, they just share the same name. Sloane Emily Jacobs is a figure skater and Sloane Devon Jacobs is a hockey player. When they meet, the decide to switch places to deal with the stresses in their life. They figure it would be a nice break for both of them. I don't know how switching places with someone would not be more stressful than being themselves, but whatever. What follows is a cute, easy read, but also very predictable. I found myself getting bored and skipping through the story a lot. I will say that the two POV where done nicely. I always knew who was talking, and never had to look back at the beginning of the chapter to find out whose point of view I was reading.

While at the other Sloan Jacobs camp, they make friends and get boyfriends. I love how dedicated they were to their sport, and the other Sloan's sport. It takes a lot to be on the ice, especially playing sports on it and jumping around on it. But other than that, the story fell flat for me, and as I said earlier, very predictable. There was nothing that really stood out for me, and after reading the first chapter, I knew how the story was going to end.

The synopsis made me thing this book had so much potential, but unfortunately, it wasn't for me. This was my first Lauren Morrill book, but she has such a huge fan base, maybe I will try her other book.

Review: Captivate by Vanessa Garden

Captivate

In a glittering underwater world, nothing is as it seems...

For the past twelve months since her parents’ death, seventeen-year-old Miranda Sun has harbored a dark secret — a secret that has strained the close relationship she once shared with her older sister, Lauren. In an effort to repair this broken bond, Miranda’s grandparents whisk the siblings away on a secluded beach holiday. Except before Miranda gets a chance to confess her life-changing secret, she’s dragged underwater by a mysterious stranger while taking a midnight swim.

Awakening days later, Miranda discovers that she’s being held captive in a glittering underwater city by an arrogant young man named Marko...the King of this underwater civilization.

Nineteen-year-old Marko intends to marry Miranda in order to keep his crown from falling into the sinister clutches of his half-brother, Damir. There’s only one problem. Miranda is desperate to return home to right things with her sister and she wants nothing to do with Marko. Trying to secure her freedom, Miranda quickly forms an alliance with Robbie — Marko’s personal guard. However, she soon discovers that even underwater, people are hiding dangerous secrets.
I received this galley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin Teen Australia.

Miranda is almost 17 years old and holding in a secret from her sister about the night their parents died. If that wasn't enough to deal with, she is also living with the guilt about the night her best friend died. While swimming in the ocean at night with her sister, she gets kidnapped and is brought to an underwater city. The city has its own laws and government and is completely inhabited by humans. I thought this was so interesting. I loved learning about the city and finding out its history. It was described beautifully. I felt like I was actually experiencing it right along with Miranda.

Miranda had very complex relationships with her captors. Robbie, the man who actually kidnapped her was very interesting. He didn't feel right about what he was doing it, but at the same time he felt he had no choice doing what he was doing. Marko, the King and the man that ordered Miranda kidnapping is actually one of the good guys! I loved Miranda and Robbie together. They were so sweet together and both had similar back stories. I couldn't stand Miranda and Marko together. Their relationship felt forced and way to quick, especially with everything that was going on.

I thought the ending was very rushed and also kind of stupid, but maybe I missed something. The last line completely confused me. I'm not sure if this is a series I am going to want to continue with. But on that note, if the cover is as gorgeous at the cover for Captivate, I am going to have to read it, because I totally read books based on what their covers look like!

Cover Reveal: The Deep End of the Sea by Heather Lyons

I am extremely excited to be able to share with you the cover for Heather Lyons' THE DEEP END OF THE SEA!! The cover alone is giving us chills! You can buy THE DEEP END OF THE SEA February 13, 2014!

What if all the legends you’ve learned were wrong? Brutally attacked by one god and unfairly cursed by another she faithfully served, Medusa has spent the last two thousand years living out her punishment on an enchanted isle in the Aegean Sea. A far cry from the monster legends depict, she’s spent her time educating herself, gardening, and desperately trying to frighten away adventure seekers who occasionally end up, much to her dismay, as statues when they manage to catch her off guard. As time marches on without her, Medusa wishes for nothing more than to be given a second chance at a life stolen away at far too young an age. But then comes a day when Hermes, one of the few friends she still has and the only deity she trusts, petitions the rest of the gods and goddesses to reverse the curse. Thus begins a journey toward healing and redemption, of reclaiming a life after tragedy, and of just how powerful friendship and love can be—because sometimes, you have to sink in the deep end of the sea before you can rise back up again.

Mini Reviews: The Dom Project and Double Exposure

The Dom Project
By: Heloise Belleau and Solace Ames
Pub. Date: December 23, 2013
Publisher: Carina Press
Source: Netgalley

By day, Robin Lessing has a successful career as a university archivist. By night, she blogs about her less-than-successful search for Mr. Tall, Dark and Dominant. Living up to her handle "The Picky Submissive," she's on the verge of giving up and settling for vanilla with a side of fuzzy handcuffs when she discovers her best friend and colleague has a kinky side, too.

Sexy, tattooed techie John Sun is an experienced Dom who never lacks for playmates, male or female. If he can't satisfy Robin's cravings, maybe no one can—after all, he knows her better than anyone. So he offers to help her master the art of submission for one month.

Robin eagerly agrees to John's terms, even the pesky little rule forbidding any friendship-ruining sex. But rules are made to be broken, and once they begin their stimulating sessions, it's not long before she's ready to beg him for more—much more.
I received this galley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Carina Press.

The Dom Project is a story about best friends, Robin and John who decide to partake in a Dom/sub relationship. What made this plot different from the many others out there was the fact that Robin has a website, The Picky Submissive, where she (sometimes hilariously) blogs about her sub experiences. While I enjoyed that aspect of the story, I wish that instead of blogging about specific things that happened between her and John, we were able to actually read about it as it was happening. Whenever anything exciting was about to happen, the authors would cut off and insert a blog post instead. Eventually, I started to get really annoyed with it.

I enjoyed that the story was told with both Robin's and John's POV. Usually we never get to see any other side of the Dom character, except what we see in the bedroom, but I loved seeing John as a real person. They way he took care of his subs was really sweet. He was a great guy and perfect for Robin, who I also enjoyed.

I thought the cover was perfect for the story. The pearls play a big part, and I love that it was incorporated into the cover.

Double Exposure
(Director's Cut # 2)
By: Liz Borino and Michelle Stevens
Pub. Date: August 6, 2013
Publisher: Lazy Day Publishing
Pages: 227
Source: Netgalley

Family is what you make it. Keeping it together is often more complicated than we realize. With the man who stabbed Zack still on the loose, in reaction to his fear Zack becomes even more dependent on his submissive role in his marriage. This leaves the whole family, especially his husband, Steve, reeling.

Darren, Drew’s abusive ex, won’t let them heal in peace. Darren goes from soiling Drew’s name in the media to harassing his current partner, Alex, until he finally takes the one thing the family can’t afford to lose.

Double Exposure tells a story of a family who have every reason to run, but come through all their trials with hope and love. And a little help from the kink that brought them together.
What intrigued me about this story was the synopsis. I knew it was book two of a series, but after reading some reviews on goodreads about book 1, I thought I would be able to just go head first into this one. For the most part, I pretty much understood everything that was going on. But after further research, it seemed to me that it could be book five in a series, which confused me. Eventually, I will go back and read the previous books.

I really enjoyed the characters and all the loved they had for each other. From the cover you might think it is just a BDSM erotica, but I wouldn't call it that at all. Sure, there were sex scenes, but I think this story is more about being in love and what makes a family. I thought Drew and Alex was so sweet and perfect for each other. I enjoyed learning about them and watching their relationship grow. Zack and Steve, the main characters from the previous books, I found to be really annoying. They were too needy of each other and I am not a fan of those kinds of characters. I do like how all four of these guys were there for each other, especially when they were needed the most.

I think Double Exposure is an easy read and perfect for romance lovers.

Review: The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine

The Promise of Amazing
By: Robin Constantine
Pub. Date: December 31, 2013
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Pages: 384
Source: Edelweiss

Wren Caswell is average. Ranked in the middle of her class at Sacred Heart, she’s not popular, but not a social misfit. Wren is the quiet, “good” girl who's always done what she's supposed to—only now in her junior year, this passive strategy is backfiring. She wants to change, but doesn’t know how.

Grayson Barrett was the king of St. Gabe’s. Star of the lacrosse team, top of his class, on a fast track to a brilliant future—until he was expelled for being a “term paper pimp.” Now Gray is in a downward spiral and needs to change, but doesn’t know how.

One fateful night their paths cross when Wren, working at her family’s Arthurian-themed catering hall, performs the Heimlich on Gray as he chokes on a cocktail weenie, saving his life literally and figuratively. What follows is the complicated, awkward, hilarious, and tender tale of two teens shedding their pasts, figuring out who they are—and falling in love.
I received this galley in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited to get approval to read The Promise of Amazing. I thought it was going to be a fun, sweet contemporary, but sadly, I was disappointed. I just found the whole plot stupid, which caused me to not enjoy it as much as I was hoping I would.

Wren is your typical shy, good girl. Grayson is your typical bad boy but whose trying to change. After he chokes on a hot dog (his fault by the way cause he's an idiot), Wren saves his life. Which follows the worst dialogue I have ever heard:

"Why did you choose to save my life?" (quote from ARC)

For real? Is this supposed to be some deep conversation. She saved you cause you were chocking on a hot dog at her family owned restaurant/party hall you idiot! It was after this that I just couldn't take the book seriously.

I did enjoy the character of Wren and watching her break out of her shell. She was sweet and funny. I could have done without Grayson though. For me, the two of them didn't have the chemistry I was expecting them too or hoping that they would have.

It might seem like I completely hated this story. But that is not the case. There were many things that I did enjoy! While the connection wasn't there, the two characters were completely relatable! I felt like I was back in high school with them, from the scenes they were in, to what they were saying. It all felt very real. I also enjoyed the alternate POV between Wren and Grayson. Even though I thought it was stupid how the two met, I loved how it ended. It was sweet and realistic!

Overall, was this a book for me? No. But that doesn't mean it isn't a book that others wont love. I completely see this story getting a lot of positive attention!

Review: Wrecked by Priscilla West

Wrecked

“There would be no happy ending for us. He was too damaged. I was too broken.”

Two years ago, Lorrie’s mother was murdered. But that wasn’t the end of it. Reeling from the tragedy, Lorrie’s father spiraled into alcohol, depression, and finally suicide.

The two most important people in Lorrie’s life are both gone but she’s still alive.

Trying to recover from the tragedy, Lorrie returns to campus, ready to pick up the pieces of her life. All Lorrie wants is to get back to “normal.”

Then she meets Hunter. The man, the legend, “the Hammer.”

Hunter is a cage fighter who takes on every fight like he’s got nothing to lose. His life is a tangled mess of girls, booze, and fist fights. And while it may seem like he’s got a devil-may-care attitude, he’s fighting a private cage-match with a monster he can’t defeat.

Lorrie knows that Hunter is the exact type of guy she should stay away from, especially in her fragile state, but Hunter has other ideas.

As Hunter and Lorrie grow closer together, will they be able to overcome their pain and heal each other? Or will they both end up wrecked?
I received this galley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Blackbird Publishing.

This one wasn't even on my radar until I saw a sponsored ad on facebook for it. I noticed it was a read now so I figured it couldn't hurt to try it out. I thought it was just going to be another Beautiful Disaster and since I wasn't a huge fan of that one, I didn't have high hopes for this one. I am so happy I gave it a try, because I ABSOLUTELY LOVED it!! It was original, sweet and an easy read.

Ever since Lorrie's mom was murdered and her dad killed himself, she hasn't been the same. She knows what people say about her, and she was really nervous about going back to school. While reading her dad's suicide note, yet again, Lorrie falls into a frozen lake and Hunter jumps in to save her. From the very beginning the two of them have this wonderful, sweet chemistry. Lorrie isn't ready for a relationship, so the two of them decide to just be friends. Eventually that friendship turns into love, and I loved watching those feelings for each other develop and grow.

I loved Hunter! You think he is just going to be the stereotypical bad boy with a past. He is kind of a slut, and he is a cage fighter. But he is so sweet and kind and really smart. He's a psychics major for crying out loud! I instantly loved him. And I loved that he was so much more than what I was expecting him to be.  When we finally figured out what his secret, my heart broke for him, and it wasn't anything that I was expecting. Even before this horrible thing happened to him, he hadn't had an easy life, but I love that he overcame all of that. And the whole situation with the kitties! Oh. My. God! I think that is when I fell in love with him.

Wrecked is a beautiful story about dealing with life's curve balls and moving on from them. I haven't been given many books five stars anymore because I feel that I just keep reading the same story over and over again, but I loved this one, and I highly recommend it!

Sometimes you can’t see the storm coming until it’s too late...

Severe Storm Warning Tip #1:
Be alert to changing weather conditions. Look for approaching storms.

Severe Storm Warning Tip #2:
If you see approaching storms or any of the danger signs, be prepared to take shelter immediately.

Severe Storm Warning Tip #3:
They may strike quickly, with little or no warning.

Situated just outside of Oklahoma City, Calumet County is divided into two drastically different communities: Hope’s Grove and Summit Bluffs. One is the small backward town where dirt roads lead the way to field parties and railroad tracks. And the other, a sprawling suburb where paved drives lead to the landscaped lawns of the wealthy and over privileged.

For five teenagers smack in the middle of Tornado Alley, summer is heating up fast. The winds of change are blurring the invisible line that divides the rich and the rural.

One has a secret.
One has a crush.
One has been lying.
One will get caught.
And one might not make it out alive.

They’re from two different worlds…but one summer is about to change everything.

Whether you believe in destiny, divine intervention, or just plain ol' dumb luck, several things happened in 2013 that caused E. Lee and C. Quinn's paths to cross. It may have been that the stars aligned perfectly, or the fact anytime Luke Bryan was mentioned on a social media site both of them were tagged, or maybe it was just that their small town roots and country girl attitudes were magnetically drawn together—calling out to one another, “Y'all should write a book!” Despite geography keeping them apart—Lee in Illinois and Quinn in Alabama—they did. Thanks to three-hour phone calls, ridiculous amounts of online chats, and umpteen Google Docs—Storm Warning is the first book in their edgy new Young Adult series,  Broken Heartland.

Blog Tour~ Excerpt & Giveaway: One Wild Night by Magan Vernon

One Wild Night Can Change Everything

Valerie Wilder doesn’t do serious relationships. She also doesn’t usually wake up in Vegas next to a male stripper…

A male stripper who happens to be her new husband.

A quickie divorce seems like the answer, but the Nevada legal system doesn’t think so.  When her new husband suggests flying back to Chicago with Valerie she accepts, wondering if one night in Vegas could turn into something much more.

If my pounding headache wasn’t enough to wake me, then the shifting on the other side of my bed was.

Shit.
How much did I have to drink?
I hadn’t hooked up with a random since college and now I could feel whoever it was moving. I guess that’s what happens when your work sends you to a conference in Vegas and your co-workers convince you to go to a strip club.

I wondered if that’s where I picked him up. If it was, I hoped he was at least hot because I didn’t remember a damn thing from the night before.

Slowly, I opened my eyes and turned toward the other side of my bed.

Damn. For being a Vegas hook-up he was about a hundred shades of sexy.

The random was on his back with his arms propped up behind his head. They weren’t veined and overly muscular like the guys in magazines, but lean and cut like a guy who knew his way around a gym and probably a woman’s body. God I hoped those arms were all over me.

My eyes trailed down from his arms to the hoops in his nipples. I always thought pierced nipples were meant for drunk college girls, but this guy with his toned pecs had me rethinking it.

He moaned, turning to his side before he opened his eyes—a gorgeous set of green ones that could have lit up the whole freaking Vegas strip. Blond spiky hair and green eyes, it was a freaking wet dream.

“Mornin’, Valerie,” he said, taking in a deep breath and stretching out his arms. An accent. The guy had a southern accent. I was about to turn into a panting teenage girl right there.
