We are so excited to be bringing you the release of INTERLUDE by D. Kelly. INTERLUDE is a brand new standalone contemporary romance and tells the much awaited story of Jordan Weston. Be sure to grab your copy today!

About INTERLUDE

Jordan Weston is good-looking, mysterious, and sexually uninhibited, but his life is more like the name of his bar―Just an Illusion. His cousins are the bad boys of Bastards and Dangerous, but their fame hasn’t made everything rainbows and sunshine for him. He’s haunted, flawed, and the sole survivor of a homicide that wiped out his immediate family.

Allie Baker, the most recent hire at the bar, can see through Jordan’s façade. She knows he’s everything she doesn’t need, but she’s beginning to crave his cocky attitude and the way he looks at her. The more she tries to stay away from him, the more she wants to get to know him.
Jordan knows falling for an employee is a bad idea, but Allie pushes buttons he never realized he had. Even though Allie desperately needs her job, she soon decides being with Jordan is more important. Will they be able to compromise, or will she let her chance at love pass her by for the sake of a paycheck?

My Review:

I went into this book solely based on the synopsis, not realizing that it’s technically book #6 of the Illusion series. After doing some research, I learned that this can be read as a standalone. I definitely agree with that, but I do think it will add more to the story if you knew the backgrounds of the other characters.

This story is about the character of Jordan. I don’t know how much we know about him in past books, but right off the back we learn that his entire immediate family was murdered by his father and he is the sole survivor. Thank god for his aunt, uncle, and cousins who through the years have become his parents and siblings. Sadly, Jordan still suffers from nightmares and issues from the ordeal. Due to this, he doesn’t open up to many people and stays away from relationships. I also loved the fact that he was bisexual. I feel like we don’t see men being comfortable enough with their bisexuality in stories, and it was refreshing to see this in Jordan.

I really enjoyed Allie’s character. I loved watching her being open with Jordan, and allowing Jordan the safe space to open up to her. I enjoyed seeing their connection grow into something more, and I loved the last few chapters!

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It definitely broke my heart at parts, but I loved the connections. Not just between Allie and Jordan, but between Jordan and his family. I definitely want to check out the other books in the series.

Book Blurb:

He’s known as Father Anton to his teammates—the brooding, sexy captain of the NHL’s Chicago Blaze has a reputation for…not having a reputation. Just like his diet and sleep routines, celibacy is part of Anton Petrov’s on-ice mojo. Or so they say. Anton stays mum on the subject. If the world thinks he chooses to abstain from sex, so be it. Better that than the truth getting out: there is a woman he burns for, but he can never have her. She’s his teammate’s wife, after all. Mia Marceau is finally on her own. Now that she and her husband are living apart, she’s finding the peace she was desperate for. She spends her days in classes and late nights bartending, making her own way in the world at last. After what she’s been through, as long as her husband leaves her alone, she doesn’t plan to rock the boat. He still has the power to hurt those dearest to her, and she can’t demand a divorce with such a high cost. A chance encounter with Mia has Anton hoping for a shot he never thought he’d get. And while she’s drawn to the intense, serious hockey center, Mia’s leery about playing with fire. That’s all Anton has ever known for Mia, though—a living, burning desire that won’t be denied—no matter the cost.

My Review:

OMG! Anton was so good! I had never even heard of this author, but the moment I saw that sexy cover, I knew I had to read it. I was not disappointed! This book had everything I could want in a story.

Anton was the epiphany of the perfect guy. He loves his parents (who he provides for in Russia), his adopted family in America, his twin brother, and his friends. He was so sweet and I loved seeing him interact with his brother and his nieces and nephews. He’s the captain of the Chicago Blaze Hockey team and takes his training seriously. My favorite part of his was when he was taking care of his Uncle Dix. I couldn’t help but laugh when the two of them were together. He also has one vice. He’s been in love with his teammates wife for two years.

I loved Mia. She was very strong and doing what she has to do to take care of her grandfather and get divorced from her emotionally abusive husband. I really liked her and Anton together. I love that he never pushed her and was there for her in the sweetest way possible.

I couldn’t get enough of this story. My only complaint was that I had hit the end of the story! I loved them so much and I loved this story even more!

Book Blurb:

Imogen There is no way we can still love and cherish one and other. When I married Theo Walsh, the rough, bearded townie who worked construction on my family’s summer house, I’d found my happily ever after. That was before the fighting. Before the jealousy. Before the infertility. We’ll be divorced long before death does us part. But to secure my place in the family dynasty, there is just one more hoop I have to jump through. And I need him to do it. Faking the marriage we once thrived in will gut me. Especially with the secret I’m carrying. Theo I would have sacrificed for her until the end of time. My job. My home. My happiness. I’d given it all up to marry her. That’s how much I loved Imogen Weston, the daughter to one of the world’s richest families. From the day we met, I’d done nothing but try to live up to the man she expected to be with. And now, I was done. Sure, I’d complete this one final ask of hers, even if it destroyed me. But I’ve made her promise the one thing that might save me. She swore that after she got everything she ever wanted, she wouldn’t look back. I made my wife vow to leave me forever.

My Review:

This was the first book that I have read by Carrie Aarons and I really enjoyed the story that she has written. Imogen and Theo were beautifully in love. Despite her parents and their completely different backgrounds, the two of them were happy. When we meet them though, they are about to get a divorce. Imogen is the one that wants it and Theo is devastated. Due to her horrible parents, Imogen and Theo are forced to pretend they are married for a few months before they can finalize the divorce.

Imogen was horrible. I really did not like her character for most of the story. She was selfish and let people walk all over her. Theo was someone special. He was so selfless and allowed himself to be hurt to help Imogen. Even though I wasn’t a fan of Imogen until about half way through, I loved her and Theo together. They made me believe in true love.

Even though the story was predictable, I really enjoyed it. It was a perfect story to curl up with on a cold evening. I am looking forward to reading more books from Ms. Aarons!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

As the Sheriff of Malus, Texas, JW takes his oath to protect its citizens very seriously. Born from a ugly past, he swears no child, woman, or man will ever endure what he and his brothers have. As he seeks retribution of the ones who wronged him, his past and his present finally collide. Secrets are laid open. Ones that are so heinous, they’ll rock the very foundation of JW’s life.

My Review:

Let me just start by saying how much I love this series! The first book, Trouble in Hell introduces us to four men who have lived in a hell like situation, but grew up to vow to never let anything like that happen again. They take care of the people around them and the town that they live in. I definitely recommend reading the first book before embarking on Bitter Sweet Hell.

This story focuses on JW, the Sheriff of Malus, TX. He makes sure that everyone is following the laws of their town, but he and his three brothers, Trouble (his story can be read in Trouble in Hell), Judge and Emo also make sure that no one is abusive or getting hurt in anyway. The four of them are also trying to hunt down anyone from their past. This story was just as emotional as the first one, and the plot twist regarding JW and his family I had not seen coming.

Malus is a town that likes to keep out outsiders, but when JW pulls over Eden for speeding through their town lines, he knows he needs to help her. Eden is escaping an ex-boyfriend who has murdered women before, and is now after her.

I really loved these two characters together. They had a beautiful bond and I enjoyed seeing the closed off JW open up to Eden. I also loved being back into the world of the four brothers and we even learned more about Emo, which I am so happy about it!

The Hell Night series are not for the faint of heart. They deal with some horrible themes such as rape, murder, child sexual abuse. Despite that, they are also about healing, helping and overcoming. I love this series and I cannot wait for Judge’s story, which releases in April (Thank god I don’t have to wait a whole year for each book! I don’t know what I would do with myself!)

Review: Deke by Eden Finley

Release Date: January 9, 2019
Cover Design: Kellie Dennis / Book Cover by Design

Synopsis

Ollie
Word of advice: don’t come out to random guys in public restrooms. Even if they’re charming and adorably nerdy and offer to help. My family believe I can’t be happy if I’m not out to the world. I have a bitter ex-boyfriend and an unstable NHL career to show for it. A fake boyfriend seems like an easy and quick solution to get my family off my back, and this guy is volunteering. I take him up on it without asking his name. I really should’ve asked for his name.

Lennon
Word of advice: learn how to introduce yourself properly. In my defense, I don’t recognize Ollie Strömberg right away. I cover football, not hockey. I’m not supposed to see him again, and he’s never supposed to find out I’m a reporter. That all changes when my editor reassigns me. It’s a lesson I should’ve learned by now. Nothing’s changed since high school. Jocks still hate nerds. But even worse, athletes hate journalists. Especially ones who know their secret.

Goodreads

My Review:

I had not heard anything about this series before, but as soon as I saw the cover for Deke, I knew I had to read it. I loved it so much! Even though it is book 3 of the Fake Out series, I didn’t feel confused about anything and I definitely will be reading the first two books in the series.
Deke focuses on Ollie, an out and proud hockey player to his family and best friends, but in the closet to the NHL and the rest of the world. He doesn’t want to be the first gay man out in Hockey, even though his family is pushing him to be an example to others who haven’t come out yet. Lennon is a sports journalist who meets Ollie in the bathroom while Ollie was out with his family and pretends to be his boyfriend. The two don’t see each other again until 6 months later and that is when the magic really happens!
OMG, I loved these two characters. Ollie and Lennon were so cute together. I loved the jock and nerd aspect. I seriously could not get enough. Both were written very well and the story overall was sweet, funny and just adorable. Have you ever wanted to hug a book? I definitely hugged my kindle a few times while reading! I loved that Lennon knew Ollie’s secret, but never used it against him in his articles. The fact that he didn’t tell the world that Ollie is gay showed a lot about his character and I really loved that about him.
I also loved all the secondary characters, including Ollie’s family. They were so amazing and real. They had their issues, but it wasn’t written fake or forced. And that scene at Ollie’s home with Lennon? I was DYING!
Overall, Deke was such a sweet story and I highly recommend it. It was everything I could have wanted in an M/M story.

Review: Finding My Girl/Loving Talia by Melissa Foster

About Finding My Girl:

FINDING MY GIRL / LOVING TALIA is a companion booklet to the contemporary romance novel, LOVE LIKE OURS (Sugar Lake series).

If this is your first Melissa Foster book, please note that Finding My Girl / Loving Talia is not a novel, a novella, or even a typical short story. It is a companion booklet to the full-length contemporary romance novel, Love Like Ours, featuring Talia Dalton and Derek Grant. In Love Like Ours, one of the many ways Derek shows his love for Talia is through cute and loving sketches depicting their lives as they came together. Finding My Girl / Loving Talia is a collection of those images, along with a couple of images that Jonah, Derek's father, had drawn for his wife, Eva. Within these pages you will also find heartfelt messages from Derek to Talia that are not found in the original novel. As a bonus, I have included the first chapter of Love Like Ours in the back of the booklet.

I hope you enjoy this quick, visual adaptation of Derek and Talia's journey into coupledom. To read their full-length love story, please buy Love Like Ours, a Sugar Lake novel (available in digital, paperback, and audio formats).

~ Melissa

My Review:

Guys! GUYS! This companion novel was everything. It made me laugh, kept a smile on my face the entire time and brought tears to my eyes. My only complaint was I wish it were longer!

Throughout the novel, Love Like Ours, Derek Grant creates a book of words and drawings for Talia Dalton. These drawings signify meaningful parts of their story and how the two characters get together. We get descriptions of the drawings, but we don’t get to see them. NOW WE DO! Finding My Girl are all those drawings and I loved every single moment of it. The drawings were beautiful and adorable.

Now I don’t recommend picking this companion story up unless you have read Love Like Ours. While you can still enjoy the drawings, they will not mean as much to you. Pick up Love Like Ours from Kindle Unlimited, devour it as I did (the story is absolutely amazing!) and then pick this one up. You will not be disappointed!!
